As a Sanitation Manager, you will oversee bakery sanitation programs to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a thoroughly clean production environment. You will develop and implement cleaning procedures, manage audit readiness, and handle the sanitation budget and vendor partnerships. Your role includes supervising a team, driving safe work practices, and ensuring the highest quality breads are produced. You will also be responsible for managing waste streams, implementing microbiological programs, and maintaining audit readiness at all times.

 

Responsbilities:

  • Drive safe work practices and adherence by Sanitation team.
  • Develop and implement the Bakery sanitation program incorporating corporate, third party and customer guidelines and procedures that ensures the highest quality breads are produced in a thoroughly cleaned bakery environment.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF).
  • Responsible for implementation of microbiological program.
  • Develop and implement log and inspection procedures, records, and reports to ensure that tasks are performed to expectations, documented and validated.
  • Develop and monitor sanitation budget and expenditures.
  • Manage various bakery waste streams including plant grease traps.
  • Ensure Bakery is audit ready at all times.
  • Research and implement new and/or more efficient methods of cleaning that will benefit bakery sanitation efforts and company goals.
  • Develop and oversee partnerships with vendors and contractors.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Hire, train, coach, and manage sanitation team
    • Measure employee and team performance
    • Review and approve timecards reports
    • Set forth standards for safety
    • Ensure accident/loss prevention and security policies are followed
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages three shift supervisors with a team of roughly 35 sanitation employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 8 years of manufacturing and sanitation experience within the food industry is required.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in an automated food processing plant is required.
  • Experience in managing large teams and overseeing plant sanitation programs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with food safety standards (BRC, GFSI, SQF, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HACCP required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
